Educator Effectiveness

PPGs (Professional Practice Goals)

Your PPG is meant to describe a goal you have for your own professional practice.  Completing your Teacher Self-Review may give you an idea for your PPG, or your Highly Effective Practices or Equity pathway may bring about an idea for your PPG (The wording of your PPG should reinforce your chosen pathway.).

If you would like to organize your thoughts about your PPG before filling out the PPG boxes in Frontline (formerly My Learning Plan), the link below provides a Google Doc version which matches the questions about your PPG in Frontline.  You could copy and paste your responses from your copy of this PPG planning template into the boxes in Frontline.

For example, this sample PPG focuses on participation in a PLC:

For the 2023-2024 school year, as part of the Equity or Highly Effective Practices pathway (choose one), we will meet weekly as a _____ PLC (include the PLC name), and our goal will be to analyze and maximize our effect on student learning in our classes.  We will do this by collaboratively examining current student work during PLC meetings and then adjusting our plans and actions based on that student learning data.

The sample PPG below focuses on using inclusionary practices:

For the 2023-2024 school year, as part of my Highly Effective Practices or Equity pathway (choose one), I will increase my knowledge and use of inclusionary practices in order to design and implement lessons and assessments that remove barriers and support students to fully access their learning opportunities in my classes. These practices include designing for accessibility, modifying assessments and grading, building relationships, adult collaboration, and flexible student support (You could include the practice or practices you plan to focus on.).

The sample PPG below focuses on using AIW strategies:

For the 2023-2024 school year, as part of my Equity pathway, I will meet with my AIW group once a week in order to collaborate with my colleagues regarding strategies for increasing the way my class assignments promote critical thinking, elaborated communication skills, and value beyond school for my students.  This is connected to my Equity pathway because research has shown that AIW practices are successful at helping to close achievement gaps for students of color and for students with disabilities.

The sample PPG below focuses on using AVID WICOR strategies:

For the 2023-2024 School year, as part of my Equity pathway or Highly Effective Practices pathway (choose one), I will take steps to intentionally utilize with students in my classes strategies from one or more AVID WICOR components (writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading).  In addition, I will refine my use of these strategies in order to help each and every student reach their potential through individual determination.

The sample PPG below focuses on implementing social emotional learning strategies in the classroom:

Having reflected upon my practice with respect to the Danielson components and having gathered multiple sources of student data, my professional practice goal is to learn about Social and Emotional Learning strategies and to effectively implement them in my classroom, so all of my students, especially targeted populations showing opportunities for growth, will feel safe and valued thus increasing their level of engagement and improving their performance on assessments.

The sample PPG below focuses on implementing learning targets in the classroom:

For the 2023-2024 school year, as part of my Highly Effective Practices pathway, I will develop student-friendly learning targets for each English 10 unit; these targets will focus on student-friendly language and on enabling students to take ownership of their learning.
