It may be spring, but it is not too early to think about performing during the Capitol's holiday program. Each December, a total of 5,000 performers will fill the Capitol Rotunda with the joyful sounds of the season. After taking the 39th celebration of Holidays at the Capitol online in 2020, to protect the health and safety of our staff, volunteers, performers, and partners amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, we are approaching the 40th iteration of this timeless holiday tradition with cautious optimism, and are now accepting performance reservations.
To schedule your slot, call 503-986-1388 or email the Capitol events desk at capitol.events@oregonlegislature.gov. Please include your choir's name, the primary contact person's email and phone, and your preferred date and time between 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Monday - Saturday, December 1 - 23. Weekdays are reserved for school choirs through December 17, when most schools break for winter. The Capitol is open for community performances December 4, 11, 18, and 20-23.
The Medford School District wants to turn summer school into something more like summer fun with a new two-month program from mid-June to mid-August that’s been dubbed Summer Experience.
Promoted on the MSD website as “hands-on, minds-on and worksheet free,” Summer Experience will be broken up into four two-week sessions and be available to all K-12 students in the district. A link to the district’s sign-up application can be found on the MSD website.
Jeanne Grazioli, MSD’s executive director of teaching and learning, said Summer Experience will differ from what families have come to expect from summer school.
