2025–26 Esports Season Recap
The 2025–26 season was one for the books.
This year, Villa Park Esports stepped into competition with returning veterans, new competitors, and students ready to see what they could accomplish. Along the way came big wins, tough losses, long practices, unexpected challenges, and plenty of moments that reminded us why we play.
Our Marvel Rivals team led the way, finishing the season with an impressive 24–11 record, earning a #8 national ranking, and capturing the championship at the City of STEM Esports Invitational.
The team carried that momentum into the CIF postseason, battling its way to a 3rd-place finish in California.
But the season wasn't just about the scoreboard.
There were matches where everything clicked—and others where nothing seemed to go according to plan. There were technical problems, tough losses, frustrating moments, and plenty of lessons about communication, preparation, accountability, and trusting your teammates.
For our seniors, every match also carried a little more meaning. This was their final season together, their last opportunity to compete as a Spyder team, and one more chapter in the story they helped build.
And that's what we'll remember.
The wins were great. The rankings were great. The trophies were great.
But the real victory was watching a group of students become a team.

One unforgettable season.
To every player, family member, and supporter who helped make this season possible—thank you.
And to our seniors: thank you for giving us one more season together.

Who says we don’t do anything on a Sunday? 😉 Today, the Spartan Rivals squad made the drive out to Downey for the City of Stem: Esports Invitational!
After taking down Pomona High to secure our spot, we battled it out in the FINAL FOUR against Sunny Hills High and Warren High... and brought home the championship! 🥇🎮
The loot? Each starting player took home a trophy and a GameStop gift card (yeah, only the starters—slight bummer, we know 😅), BUT our program also scored $500 worth of new gaming supplies! Not too shabby for a Sunday. 💸
A massive THANK YOU to all the parents, guardians, and family members who made the trek to Downey to cheer us on and handle drop-offs. It takes a village! Huge shoutout for the donuts, and an extra special thanks to our very own Koi for the amazing brownies! 🍩🍫

Our Rivals squad is leveling up and heading to the Columbia Memorial Space Center in Downey! We stepped outside our usual competitive leagues and jumped into a local tournament—and we made it count. 💪
After an intense showdown against Pomona Unions’ #1 team, we came out on top and secured our spot in the FINAL FOUR of the City of STEM Esports Invitational! 🚀🏆
Next up: our first-ever in-person event this Sunday, April 19th at 11:30 AM, where we’ll face off against Sunny Hills High (Fullerton, CA).

The momentum from our 7-0 undefeated fall isn't slowing down—it’s accelerating! This spring, Spartan Esports is taking over two major fronts. Under the CIF banner, our Marvel Rivals and Super Smash Bros. squads are locking in every Thursday to defend our reputation.
But that’s not all. We are officially expanding our footprint in the VHEL, introducing our brand-new Fortnite teams competing Monday through Wednesday, alongside our veteran Marvel Rivals team returning for more VHEL action. New games, new schedules, same winning energy. Let’s bring those titles home!

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: This team is something else. ✨
The heart, the dedication, the pure passion—it’s been evident in every match. To all of our players, starters and subs alike: Thank you. You all have played a critical role in this success, and I’m bursting with pride for each and every one of you. This is a special group. ❤️
