Career Technical Education

CTE PATHWAYS

Richland High School is committed to graduating students who are ready for the next steps toward college and career.  One way to achieve that goal is having students enroll in the district’s Career and Technical Education Pathways.

A CTE pathway is a sequence of courses within your area of interest that will connect your career interests from high school to college and/or career.

In a CTE pathway, students take rigorous academic courses and participate in work-based learning opportunities including: mentoring with industry professionals, job shadowing, and professional internships.  After successful completion of a CTE program, students can graduate from high school with industry certification or college credit and have a “leg up” toward an in-demand, well paid career.

Fulfilling Opportunities

Helping You Turn Your Passion Into A Career

It used to be common knowledge that college is the only path to a rewarding job and career success. This is no longer true. A new more technical labor market, soaring tuition prices and high college dropout rates have changed the employment landscape for good. The conventional method makes even less sense considering only 27% of those who do actually graduate go on to work in a field related to their major. Today savvy career-minded grads are looking for an affordable route to both a career and lifestyle they can get excited about.

Skilled labor requires people who can perform complex tasks and requires specific skill sets, hands-on training and experience. So how can you take advantage of this massive shift in the labor market and acquire the traits today’s employers are searching for? Career Technical Education (CTE) and career pathways provide opportunities to get the exposure, skills and technical experience needed to gain a competitive edge in the work force of the future.
