To qualify for the Cord of Distinction students must complete 50 hours each year beginning with their sophomore year.
All hours must be with a non profit agency and students cannot be paid or receive compensation.
The Community Service Resource Guide in the student pack lists, non-profit agencies for the students to consider. Students may choose to service opportunities not listed in the guide with pre-approval from Career Guidance Technician.
Hours done over summer can be applied to the previous school year, upcoming school year, or be split between the two.
Summer hours are considered hours accrued from 6/1-9/30 and MUST be turned in by 10/1. Service between 10/1 and 5/31 is only applicable for the corresponding school year and MUST be turned in by 6/1.
Community service hours are NOT a graduation requirement.
