Troubleshooting Tips
Common chromebook issues:
Speed and connectivity issues while trying to access or while in a Google Meet or Zoom class.
Camera not working.
Sound is muffled.
Below are some tips to assist with common troubleshooting issues:
Start each day by restarting the chromebook (shut down completely and turn back on...closing the lid is not shutting down). See image # 1-->
If the Chromebook's hardware (trackpad, touchscreen, microphone, camera, etc.) is not behaving, try to do a hardware reset to fix the problem.
If the Chromebook is not cooperating, try to update your Chromebook
If a specific web page is not working, try to clear the Cache/Cookies
* Try the following keyboard shortcut --> CTRL + SHIFT + RIf you are having sound problems (static, too loud, etc.), check the microphone input level. The level should be about halfway.
If you are having issues with your camera and/or sound during a Google Meet or Zoom, restart the Chromebook, log back in to the Chromebook, attempt to rejoin Zoom using the app. If you continue to have issues with the app use the chrome browser option to join the meeting (zoom.us). Do your best not to limit other apps while in a class meeting. We understand that teachers may ask students to complete other tasks while in the Zoom meeting but we recommend limiting tabs, if possible.
If your Chromebook will not turn on, double check that there is a good power connection to either of the two USB-C power inputs on your chromebook. If you can confirm that the outlet is not the issue and your chromebook will still now power on, try holding down the refresh key (above the # 4 key) and simultaneously press and release the power button. Be sure to keep holding down the refresh key. If you see something on the screen, release the refresh key.
If you have tried the above tips and your chromebook is not working, in need of repair, or needs a password reset, please submit a ticket to Incident IQ. Include the inventory tag number (on the back of the device), student first and last name and grade level, in the request. Additional technology information during remote/hybrid learning is available here.
