Marking Period 1
In this assignment I was required to write a 2 page paper on an innovation from 650-1450 on how did it change the ancient world and how is it still used today. I choose to write my essay on the innovation of the clock. I was able to find many usefull soucres to add to my essay and cite them well. I enjoyed this assignment because the freedom everyone had to choose different innovation and how easy it was to find information.
I was given the class period to answere the writing prompt. The directions for the wirting prompt tasked was to answer the question documents 1 - 10. I was to constuct an essay that uses three sources, to create an agrumentive essay. I believe the topic i was given was not my strong suit and contributed to the reason why i recieved a low mark on this assignment. My reasoning for the pieces of evidence could have been stronger which might have made my arugemnt stronger.
Marking Period 2
We had to take the role of merchants for this assignment and were tasked to find 5 rare goods from the west and explain What would it cost to get one unit of this good, either in coins or other materials, Where does this good originate from?, Where did you buy it? How far did you have to travel? How did you get to this place?, Can the skill to create this good be learned, bought, transferred, relocated?, What is the significance of this good during this time? During the assignment the whole class was able to help eachother with finding soucres because the information was very hard to find espeically with the time period we are trying to find it for. I was able to find all the information i need from cost to area with a little digging. Some information was easier to find then others but the assignment got done I got a grade that revealed that.
The mid year writing task was to read the articles provided, answer the first 3 questions, and answer the paragraph team. Now reading the directions i believe i didnt finish and may be the reason i got the grade i did. Looks like i was able to only answer one question. Looking back im not sure if that was what i was insturcted to do but its more likely i didnt finish. Next time for any assignment i really have read the directions and use my time wisely.
Mrking Period 3
This assignment was over a period of time and consisted of the debate and the preperation for the debate. To prepare for the dbate we had to read an article and answer questons along wirh that do outside research to get information pro child labor and against child labor. In first glance you may automatically say against child lbor especially in current times. But the debate was proven to be tough for both sides accounting for different situations and the past. I enjoyed this activity because you relly had to do some research and if you didnt it would have been very hard to keep up and be able to refute and rebuttal anyones agrument.
We were instructed to read a poem from the link that was provided to us. We either had the option to write a paragraph, a photo collage, a drawing/art work of some sorts: along with a description, video, music, something creative!! as a response to the poem we choose. I was a bit late to this assignment because i wast there when the class first started, so i deicded just to do a paragraph response. It was very hard for me to pick a poem i actually enjoyed and wanted to read. I feel like my response reflected that and so did my grade on this assignment. If i could i would definitely do it again.
Marking Period 4
In this assingment we were placed into groups of 4 were expected to do research and a slideshow on a African country that was colonzied. My group choose to do Uganda and had to research the topics, government, way of life, major events, and how imperialism changed the nation. I had the topic of government and was able to explain how the government worked before imperialism, during, and after. My group worked well eachother making sure we held eachother accountable for our prt in the research and slideshow.
In this assignment we started on page 7, we were write an essay based on the paragraph question "Evaluate the extent to which religious responses to wealth accumulation in Eurasia in the period circa 600 B.C.E. to 1500 C.E. differed from state responses to wealth accumulation." I took my essay in the direction of there are rules and guidelines for the lifestyle of a merchant and what he and she can sell and do with what they receive and there is a reason for this decision in every lifestyle. Since there was limited time and I needed to start and finished i felt like i did the best. With more important i may have gotten a better grade, i did also have a hard time understanding the document given right away i defiently had to go over it many times before even coming up with the idea i did.
