What does a School Social Worker do?
My primary work as your School Social Worker at Partnership Academy is to be an advocate for families and students! I do that by providing academic, emotional, social, and financial support. I am happy to help connect families with resources in the community that can help. We want to support students in any way possible to ensure that they are able to be successful in our school. Feel free to call, email, or submit the below online form to let me know about a need your student or family may be experiencing. Students and families should only submit requests for their own family.
What should I know about school attendance?
NC Compulsory Attendance Law requires that School Social Workers & Administrators monitor and report school truancy.
NC Compulsory Attendance Law states the following are the only excused reasons for a student to miss school.
Illness or Injury
Death in the immediate family
Medical/dental Appts
Court or administrative proceedings
Religious observance
Absences related to military deployment
Quarantine
Educational Opportunity
Parents/Guardians should contact Partnership Academy each day by 9am if your student will be absent.
School success starts with school attendance. Be here and be engaged in learning!
Intervention Groups
Support Services run skills groups each year based on the needs of our student population. Some topics for intervention groups include social skills, anger management, anxiety management, and study skills.
Individual Support
I meet with students individually to help build skills to be successful in the school environment. I work with many community agencies that are also working to support students and families. Pet PalsNC is one of the many programs that we partner with.
Resource Referrals
Partnership Academy partners with community resources to meet the needs of students. The following are just a few of these services:
School Based Mental Health
