North Carolina's Career & College Promise (CCP) program provides high school juniors and seniors with the opportunity to take courses, tuition-free, at any NC community college. Cedar Ridge students usually take courses at either Durham Tech or Alamance Community College. The process for enrolling in CCP courses is different at each college.
Durham Technical Community College

Students are required to attend a CCP Information Session with a Durham Tech CCP Advisor. Parents are encouraged to attend. Register here: https://www.durhamtech.edu/dual-enrollment/ccp-information-sessions
Alamance Community College
Visit www.alamancecc.edu/career-and-college-promise/index.php for information about ACC's CCP program.
Students must complete a paper CCP application and turn it in to their counselor.

Use the Virtual Learning Community course search website to search for community college courses in the NC CC System. https://vlc.nccommunitycolleges.edu/students/find-a-course/
If the community college is close enough for you to get there or if the course is available online, then check to see if it is available in that community college's CCP program. If it is there, follow that community college's procedures to apply and make an appointment to meet with your high school to discuss your plans.

There are several pathways for enrolling in community college courses:
College Transfer – College transfer pathways provide tuition-free course credits toward the Associate in Arts or Associate in Science that will transfer seamlessly to any public or participating private college or university.
Technical Careers – Earn tuition-free course credits at an NC Community College toward a job credential, certificate or diploma in a technical career.
Innovative High Schools – Begin earning tuition-free college credits as a high-school student by attending an approved Cooperative Innovative High School.
Middle College High School is the Innovative High School that Orange County Schools students may attend. You can learn more about this program on the MCHS website: http://mchs.dpsnc.net/pages/Middle_College.
While students may take courses at any North Carolina Community College, most Cedar Ridge Students attend Durham Technical Community College or Alamance Community College.
