"The unread story is not a story; it is little black marks on wood pulp. The reader, reading it, makes it live: a live thing, a story."
– Ursula K. Le Guin
Oak Park Stories
For the last few years during our non-fiction unit, 10th grade honors English students have explored journalistic writing.
They begin by reading the journalism masterwork, "Hiroshima," then complete the unit by conducting an interview and producing their own journalistic piece — a profile.
The result is a collection of powerful stories about people overcoming adversity which stand as a testament to the resilience of the human spirit.
I'm so excited to share my students' work and amazing stories HERE.
