I'm Kim Winthrop and I teach 6th grade math and science. I am delighted to be your child's math & science teacher! While I love teaching, I also love swimming, water polo, spending endless hours at the beach with my family, bodysurfing, Disneyland, Legos, traveling, and of course coffee ☕.
My classroom website is a place where you can find resources and important information that will support both family & student for a successful year in 6th Grade math and science.
The CW/HW Calendar can be found on the HW/Classroom Policies page and also is posted in your child's Google Classroom for my classes.
Should you have questions about your student's grade, assignments, etc, I encourage you to speak with your student first. The best way to reach me is via email. I do not see ParenSquare messages right away.
I look forward to a fun, exciting and challenging 2026-2027 school year with you!

While these are not required to be purchased, these are used almost daily in math/science, and are recommended to have daily for your student to successfully learn and complete work.
These items are within a list of suggested school supplies in the 6th Grade Essentials Packet your student will take home from their LA/SS teacher at the beginning of school
I do have some supplies in the classroom in the event that students may need to use them but these supplies are shared and intended to be utilized as extra/back up supplies.
We use a composition book for math & science that is typically graph lined, and needs to be more than 50-80 pages. For math, it can be graph or college ruled.
(think black and white speckled covered 9.5" x 7.5" bound notebook)
Please no spiral bound notebooks - those fall apart easily resulting in lost work and notes.
