The IRIS Center recently revised their training module Secondary Transition: Helping Students with Disabilities Plan for Postsecondary Settings. This module focuses on helping students with disabilities successfully transition from high school to postsecondary settings. Among other topics, it discusses the various components of transition planning and the importance of engaging students in this process.

An experience story is a collection of representations (e.g., objects, textures, photos) of an experience a child has had, arranged in the form of a book, box, or other container. It’s a permanent memory of sorts that a child can use to recall, reflect on, and share with others. Creating an experience story with a child who is deafblind takes considerable thought and planning. It’s a careful and deliberate process that takes into account a child’s unique sensory needs and abilities.
