WHAT IS BULLYING?

It can be physical, verbal and/or emotional, and is really about someone intimidating or exercising control over someone else in a way that makes them feel afraid or embarrassed.

WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?

  • leaving someone out of a group
  • nasty looks, rude gestures, name calling, constant teasing
  • saying nasty things about someone behind their back
  • spreading rumours or lies (in person or on social media)
  • harassing someone based on their race, sex, religion, gender or a disability
  • physically hurting someone including pushing, hitting, slapping, punching or holding them against their will
  • receiving nasty, threatening or hurtful using social media such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat
  • photos and videos being sent to others without your permission

  • Lonely - no one to turn to
  • Alienated and rejected
  • depressed and/or anxious or stressed
  • ashamed and embarrassed
  • physically sick, loss of appetite and/or sleep
