Westward Expansion and the United States

In this unit, students will learn how to study history with a critical lens and look at events from the perspectives of all people involved. Students will practice closely reading informational texts that are both primary and secondary. They will build their schema about Westward Expansion in the United States with the end goal of writing a nonfiction essay about a subtopic of their choosing such as

The Gold Rush or The Trail of Tears. Students will primarily utilize this website for research.
