Set up your University accounts. Sign into your university accounts through Gmail, Google Drive, MyOntarioTechU and Canvas and explore the information that's there. Please note that while your Gmail account will be under the @ontariotechu.net domain, it is a Google account.
Organize yourself. Set yourself up to be successful by organizing your time and online space. Look over your courses and their syllabi ahead of time. Explore how the instructor organizes the materials and the course syllabus. Understanding the course and its organization will be very useful as the workload builds.
Be present. Our courses all have synchronous tutorials and you are expected to attend all scheduled online classes for your course with your headset and webcam.
Can't make it? If for any reason, you are unable to participate during the scheduled class times, you must let your professor know as soon as possible. You can request to attend another tutorial that day so you don't miss anything.
Sign in early. Please sign in for your synchronous tutorial at least a few minutes ahead of time to ensure your technology is working. For example, your microphone is working (but muted) and your webcam is functioning properly.
Ask for help. This program and OTU have plenty of supports for students. If you need help, don't be afraid to ask for it. Peers, professors, Student Mentors, Academic Advisor, and university supports are in place to help you be successful.

Zoom is used for class meetings (tutorials) in many courses.
Zoom works on phones, tablets, and Chromebooks. However, it provides the most functionality when downloaded to a laptop or desktop computer.
As a student, you will only need the free account and can download it here. Please sign up (and sign in for tutorials) using your ontariotechu.net Gmail account.
