The artists shown below are ones recommended for study by WJEC as well as some I have added (green names) as they have proved inspirational in the past. Whether you are doing GCSE, or A Level, you will need to critically analyse the work of others through writing and creative experimentation. Of course you can study any artists or themes that are relevant to your study. They do not have to be featured here. Choose artists/themes/movements which appeal to you and link to your topic.
When doing an 'Artist study' students usually present the following:
Selected inspirational images of the artist's work - with written analysis of the graphic features (line, colour, layout, text etc.) and any meanings behind the work - the Underground inspired map breaks down the areas you may write about.
Produce a piece of work clearly in the style of the artist - using appropriate media - you may try multiple techniques.
Written review of the success of your 'copy' and how you may use the style/techniques going forward in your project.
Should you come across any interesting designers or artists then please let Mr Carr know so they can be added to this ever-growing list of inspiration. Another good source of inspiration is https://www.illustrationx.com/artistsÂ
