We own two overnight outdoor education facilities: Hancock Field Station outside of Fossil, Oregon and the Coastal Discovery Center at Camp Gray in Newport, Oregon. Each site hosts Outdoor Science School during the spring and fall and offers overnight camps during the summer.
We would like to honor the indigenous people on whose land we get to learn, play, and teach. We recognize that all education happens on indigenous homelands, and that those lands were stolen from the Tribes, many of whom are no longer federally recognized.
OMSI at Water Avenue in Portland sits on the homelands of the Clackamas, Cowlitz, Confederated Tribes of Siletz, Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, and other Tribes that are no longer federally recognized.
OMSI at Camp Gray in Newport sits on the homelands of the Yakina, Confederated Tribes of Siletz, Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, and other Tribes that are no longer federally recognized.
OMSI at Hancock Field Station near Fossil sits on the homelands of the Tenino, Northern Paiute, Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, and other Tribes that are no longer federally recognized.
