What better way to beat the cold this December then by snuggling up with a great book! Students can check out up to 4 books at a time so why not stock up now so you are ready for Winter Break.
This November students and staff took part in the Gobble Up a Good Book contest. This November the seniors class won with the most books read followed closely by the 8th grade and 6th grade class.
Spooky stories await students in the library. October is always a fun month to check out mysteries, thrillers, ghost stories and all things creepy!
This October students created an image with stickers in the library. As they added more stickers the image came to life. This month the color with stickers was an image from under the sea.
October is all things scary! So why not have a scary story contest. Middle and High School students wrote some spooky stories and created original artwork that OMS & OHS voted on. Prizes went to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Everyone's artwork will be displayed in the library for everyone to see.
Students took part in October's candy guessing game by guessing the number of Candy Corn in the jar. The student with the closest guess was Gabby V. with a guess of 197. The correct amount was 195! Way to go Gabby!
The last candy guessing game of the school year was for a jar of Salt Water Taffy! The student with the closest guess was Jazmyn B. with a guess of 50. The correct amount was 51. Way to go Jazmyn!
For the Month of April Students and Staff used their creative side to design new bookmarks. The student bookmark with the most votes received a prize and the top 3 bookmarks were copied, printed and available for everyone to use. Thank you everyone for sharing your one of a kind bookmarks!
Students and Staff took part in another fun reading challenge this April! The goal was to read 200 books by the end of the month and we reached 504!!! Great job everyone! The house reached the top of the waterfall with ease.
Middle School and High School Students that participated in Battle of the Books this school year celebrated their hard work with breakfast and cartoons in the library. Great job everyone for your hard work this school year. Our Middle School Team tied for 31st in the State and our High School Team tied for 22nd!
For the Month of March Students and Staff could fill out a bracket of which book they thought would move on to then end. Each week students would vote for their favorite books to move on to the next round. This years winning book was The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Students that selected the winning book received a box of candy, Kwik Trip Gift Card and a new book. Great job everyone!
Students and Staff took part in another candy guessing game this March! The person with the closest guess to the number of Swedish fish candies in the jar got to take home a new unopened bag as their prize. The correct number was: 216. The student with the closest guess was Bobby M. with a guess of 195. Great job!

For the Month of February students have the chance to play reading Bingo! After they complete a square they can Highlight or check it off. Once they get five squares in a row (diagonal, vertical or horizontal) they can turn in their card to Mrs. Gee. She will have a sweet prize for playing February Bingo! Bingo ends Friday Feb. 26th.
This February Omro Middle School students took some time during their ELA class to cut out paper hearts and decorate them with a favorite book. The hearts are now displayed on the wall outside of the Library Media Center for everyone to see. The beautiful hearts have brightened up the hallway this Valentine's season and give students passing by the chance to look at book titles for inspiration for their next read.
Students got to know their way around the Library Media Center Website this January by searching for the hidden fox. Every Monday in January the fox moved and hid somewhere on the website. The students who found him emailed Mrs. Gee his location and were entered into a drawing that week to win a prize. One winner was drawn each Friday and announced that afternoon. Great job to all the students who found him this month!
Mrs. Behm’s art class finished their paintings of library book covers in early January. High School students were sent some book recommendations by Mrs. Gee or were able to pick their own book cover to paint. Their work turned out fantastic and will be displayed in the Library Media Center this month. Thank you students for your beautiful paintings that will be put on display!
This January students had to guess how many total book pages were in the wrapped stack of library books. The closest guess to the correct number of pages received a prize! The student with the closest guess was Faith A. with a guess of 1,800 pages. The correct amount was 2,335. Great job Faith!
Prior to winter break Omro Middle School students took some time during their ELA class to cut out snowflakes and write a favorite book title on it. The snowflakes were then displayed on the walls outside of the Library Media Center. The unique snowflakes sure brightened up the hallway and gave students passing by the chance to look at book titles for inspiration for their next read.
For the month of December any students who returned or renewed overdue library books before winter break had a chance to win a candy cane and hot chocolate. 10 names were drawn, 5 Middle School and 5 High School Students. Thank you everyone for renewing or returning your overdue books!
This November students took part in a fun reading competition. At the end of each week in November students and staff filled out a form to mark down how many books they finished. Mrs. Gee then added a sticker to their class feather on the giant turkey outside the library. This November the 7th grade class took 1st place with 80 books! Combined, Staff, Middle School and High School students read 231 books!
Students were able to take part in a candy corn guessing game from the October Media Center Newsletter. The winner was Averie S. with a guess of 350. The correct amount was 287. Great job Averie!
For the start of October students could take part in a virtual I Spy game found in the October Media Center Newsletter! 14 Spiders were crawling around the circulation desk in the library. Of the students that found them all, 5 names were drawn from a bucket to receive a prize! Thanks for playing everyone!
To start off the new school year students took part in guessing how many Skittles were in the jar. Many guesses were emailed in but only one could win. Vanessa P. had the closest guess of 284, the correct amount was 281. Great job!
Students were able to take part in a candy guessing game found in the second April Media Center Newsletter! Tootsie Pops and Jolly Ranchers were the prize to the student with the closest guess. Congratulations to Mariah H. Her guess was 54, the correct amount was 57. Great Job!
During our time away from school students could take part in a virtual I Spy game found in the first April Newsletter! 6 Foxes were hidden on the bookshelves in the library and the first 5 students to email Mrs. Gee with the correct amount won a prize! Thanks for playing!
Working from home didn't stop students from participating in the April Jelly Bean guessing game! Many guesses were emailed in but only one can win. Brooklyn G. had the closest guess of 577, the correct amount was 673. Great job!
Students and staff can take part in the March Reading Challenge. Once you finish a book in the month of March, add your grades colored square to the Reading Rainbow! Let's see which grade will reach the pot of gold first.
March means that many days could be spent at home with the unpredictable weather it can bring. Open up a new book to cozy up with when the rain decides to come in.
For the month of February students can add the title of a book they finished on one of the hearts. This way students can share the books that they loved reading in the month of February!
January 20th, 2020 is the kick off for the Tundra Tales at home reading program. All students in grades 6th - 8th can participate by reading at home from now until March 16th. If they reach their reading goal of 720 minutes by the end they will receive a free admission to the Green Bay Packer Hall of Fame!!!
This January students are creating a new masterpiece with stickers in the library. Can you guess what this months color with stickers picture is? Hint: It's a famous work of art.
This January students and staff are competing in another fun reading competition. Once they finish a book they can stop by the library to add a sticker to their branch of the snowflake. This month it looks like 6th grader's are in the lead. Let's see if another grade (or staff) can pass them by!
The OMS & OHS Battle of the Books teams took 3rd place in the Winter Door Decorating Contest which took place during December 2019. They did a fantastic job decorating the entrance to the library which includes a cozy fireplace, Christmas tree and the Grinch stealing all our books!
Students enjoyed searching for Alvin the Elf in the Library this December. If they spotted him they told Mrs. Gee and received a sweet prize!
