Sixth Grade can be called by some the “transition year”. We believe this to be a perfect way to describe the upcoming year for your students here at OLP. The students are taking their first steps towards personal responsibility and independence. We as educators, will be positive and supportive while encouraging self advocacy, autonomy, and critical thinking. Our goal throughout the year will be to develop the student’s readiness for the increased expectations of middle school. Some of these expectations include:
Modeling appropriate behavior
Time Management skills
Organizational strategies
Note Taking
Study Skills
Listening attentively and respectfully
Digital and Virtual learning skills using Google Classroom
We feel blessed that you have entrusted your child’s education to us. We also understand the commitment you have made by choosing OLP. Your role as parents is equally important. Encourage your student to make an effort, work hard and plan ahead and celebrate these goals as they are achieved. The feeling of accomplishment they get will lead to bigger and better accomplishments in the future. Communication is vital to the success of the students and teachers. Our door is always open, please feel free to call, email, send a text to the Remind app, or make an appointment for a conference.
