Key Responsibilities for Your Water:

• Federal Government: Develops national guidelines for drinking water quality.

• Provincial Government (Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks): Sets strict standards, approves systems, and protects water sources under the Clean Water Act, 2006.

• Municipalities (e.g., Peel Region): Responsible for treating, distributing, and monitoring water quality at the tap.

• Homeowners: Responsible for the water pipes (water service line) on their property line, as well as maintaining any private wells.
