Purpose of the MeetUp:

1. peer2peer feedback;

2. mutual support;

3. trying to find ways to share resources for mutual benefit.

4. Accelerator-type mentoring.

Who this Meetup is for:

1. You are already working on a project, but alone - no partner/cofounder, no employees, no team.

2. You have "only an idea" and want to explore it before starting to work on it.

3. You have lots of experience and are willing to be a Mentor for FREE to idea-people/Solitary Founders (it would be great to have you attend).

Who this Meetup is NOT for:

Founders seeking cofounders;
Startups seeking to hire employees/team members;
Job-seekers;
investors;
marketers or consultants seeking clients;
networking or socializing.

The time will be spent on a 'barter' of time, energy, knowledge & advice etc between peers - between "solitary founders" already working on a project, and between "idea-only" people.

Program at the Meetup:

At the beginning of the event, attendees may be organized in two groups (according to their category) for feedback from their peers. Categories can be: idea-only people in one group, solitary-founders in another; alternately: those wishing a long-term conneciotn to specific other peers to have ongoing input and another group for those wishing only a 1-time feedback-exchange; or the divisvious can be according to geographical
Depending on the participants' preferences, there can be a 'contest' for best idea/startup, with the winner(s) getting a few free Mentoring hours.
After experiencing the benefits of feedback etc at the event, hopefully some will also find mutual benefit in arranging contact with each other for after the event (privately or via this site).

Past Events & Future plans:

1. A small trial-Meetup took place in NY about a month ago.

2. We just had a great Meetup in Tel Aviv (actually a few blocks from TA, in 'Givatayim').

3. Now it's time for a Meetup in Jerusalem.

4. At some point we might break the bubbles and combine TA & Jlm people in a place in-between, eg 'Shapirim'.

5. Eventually there will hopefully be a real-time event some Sunday evening with NY and Jlm/TA hooked up live.

As Adam found out before Eve came into the picture,

being a "Solitary Founder"

can be lonely & unfruitful :)

Next event will be in Tel Aviv again, or perhaps a combination of the Tel Aviv & Jerusalem groups, someplace in-between.

The person at the bottom right (in the yellow shirt) is presenting his project and everyone else is listening.

You'll be able to present your project & get feedback - we always have a friendly & supportive atmospehre.

Looking forward to the next event in Tel Aviv, but first I'm planning one for Jerusalem.

F: Examples of ways for solitary founders & idea-only people to share resources or barter:

Taking the 'solitary' out of 'solo' [סוליטרי: פירושו סולו, אבל יש גם את קונוטציה של בדידות ]

After being at one of our meetings and interacting with the people there, you may find that you are somewhat compatible with one or more of the attendees and feel comfortable sharing resources or bartering in ways that you wouldn't with a complete stranger (and see below about our online solo-founder matching-service).

For example:

* A founder has no office to work from and meet clients in, but can provide a few hours of free web-design per week, while another founder at our event has extra place that's convenient (an extra room in their home, an extra space in their office) and very much needs those hours of web-design.

* A founder who moved from abroad and has many contacts in their home country but needs to connect to the local scene for their new business here, can barter with someone here who has extensive connections locally but needs contacts overseas.

* Two or three solo-founder or idea-only people want to take out a patent, or hire a developer or order an algorithm and feel they can do it more easily, more quickly or cheaply by combining efforts.

* etc.

Matching-service: Eventually we'll have a form on which you can specify what you need and what you can give, and we'll have an event for potential barter-pairs to meet each other in person.

How? Via our platform to organize groups of idea-only people & solo-founders for peer2peer mutual assistance; entrepreneurs helping each other upgrade the value of their idea/project, boosting it to the next level.

To cooperatively create value from that which was seen as valueless.

Our universe is an example of "something from nothing".

If it worked for the universe, it can work for an idea, and for a lone-founder startup - creating something (a company) from nothing (an idea, or a lone-founder startup).

That ideas are valueless and that success depends on having a team are not truths of nature. Instead, we consider them to be problems to be solved.

And we want to be the ones who solve it.

Apology: Sorry to those inconvenienced by the last-minute changes :(

Explanation (too much to read unless you are REALLY interested): Originally this was to be a small Meetup in Jerusalem, I had a location prepared, but after the first few people from Jlm registered on Meetup, the next 54 were from Tel Aviv! The Meetup was originally announced on Tuesday and I made the date for a week from then (but wrote that the date was tentative), in Jlm, but given the responses i decided on Thursday afternoon to move it to Tel Aviv and to Thursday, to give me time to set up a location.Contacting people on Tursday at 4 pm is not the best strategy however :) Eventually I reached all the known venues starting on Sunday, but by Wednesday all had replied that they were all booked for Thursday. So on Thursday I headed to TA early, thinking I'd find a place within an hour, but that didn't happen (partly because everyone wanted 50 shekel minimum, and I had offered most of the attendees that it would be my treat and I was worried there would be 20 attendees = 1,000 shekel!). I emailed everyone to ask for suggestions, and tried to find a place with less congestion and more street-parking and thought that further from Tel Aviv center would be better, but it turned out to be a mistake. In any case my apologies.

Next time will be much simpler since I am now in contact with all the relevant venues: they agreed to offer space, I just need to arrange it in time.
