Ian, hi
Olim may have particular difficulty breaking into the hitech scene, as Founders and as co-founders/team-members, and the matching-platform I created may be of help. It's designed to assist with 'the first step', moving out of the 'just an idea' stage.
It's especially useful for a particular category of potential Founder whom I call an "Idea person", but eventually the platform can be targeted more widely as well, and I think it iwill also be very useful for special niche groups who may be more than just an 'Idea person' but who are haivng difficulties entering the ecosystem, as wouldOlim for example.
So to start I'm looking to 'partner' with Meetups and FB groups like yours, and there's another group in this category which I contacted, and I think the two of you can really complement each other very well.
Udi Keshet, founder of this 'club': https://www.meetup.com/gray-hair-club/ is interested in helping promote the idea - he caters to people entering startups at a late stage in their life, after many years of working in ordinary industry, and facing difficulties because of 'ageism'. I attended two meetings he set up and was impressed, and I think that his group and Olim in tech have a lot that the other needs - your group is young and has strong connections abroad in various international markets, and the GHC is very Israeli, the members have many years of experience, and they are the type who have all the connections in the local israeli scene that an Oleh will probably never have. I think that a mentor-founder relaitonship between members of these two groups could be very useful to people in both groups.
In the meantime they are busy establishing themsleves, but will be ready for cooperation in a few months: here's Udi's email to me:

I also attended several Meetups of The CoFounder Club and was impressed. They are now more of a platform than arranging meetups, but one of the founders, Keith, who I had met a few times at his events, wrote: "Hi Avi, If you were to create an event to promote such a thing, I'd be happy to publish your event to our community."
I intend to contact a few more clubs & meetups, first for those who are 'outsiders' eg women in tech, haredim in tech, and then to the standard ones, eg the specialized meetups: for example for AI:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/586137054926333/?ref=group_browse_new
https://www.facebook.com/groups/DeepNetGroup/?ref=group_browse_new
https://www.facebook.com/groups/543283492502370/?ref=group_browse_new
and for all others subfields...
If there's enough willing participation among the organizers, I would publicize the site via the participating groups in order to enable people to register. Then, if there will be enough founders and mentors the plan would be to arrange an evening dedicated to their meeting in multiple concurrent pre-accelerator mentor-Founder groups, with pre-arranged combinations based on the information in the forms they submitted.
Venue: I am of course thinking of both TA & Jerusalem, and maybe in fact a location in between to serve both (eg cafe Joe at מחלף שפירים), or at/near HaHagana Train station if the TA-Jlm direct rain is running.
If such an evening is indeed eventually planned, I would invite reps of various bodies to observe, eg from accelerators, the municipality, VC's etc, also those bodies which specifically assist Olim, and in Jlm the JDA, etc.
I also sent a link to the site to Ari Bornstein via FB.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts,
Thanks,
Avi

When I mentioned re olim and his group helping eah other he stopped me and said they're not there to do good deeds.
I waited for him to finish then explained.
By the end he was interested in coorperation, said whatever I needed form his group could be arrange,d they already have olim coming, and he spoke to Gvahim.
When I said I arranged something in NY (solitary founders) he started to explain that all this was an MVP for something larger etc….
I felt that there would not be a place for me to get something out of it unless I created one explicitly.
said I don’t work on this all the time, but I will continue with it and will be in touch with him

Keith, hi
Thanks for your reply, and for responding so quickly.
I just want to clarify that I consider these my projects, and don;t wish to lose control over them by using your Meetup. However I do seek partnership, we just need to be sure we ar eon the same page.
I set up a website a while ago with a specific idea, a type of accelerator meant for solitary founders, take a look, and I hope to be able to eventually monetize it. It's an important part of what I'm eventually aiming at by arranging Meetups.
And as I mentioned I already started working on this in NY, and spoke to people about it here over this last year.
However it would be great to work together on various aspects of this, I liked the way you organized and arranged the events I attended. I also attended various events in NY, there are so many tech meetups there its crazy, and there''s a lot that can be done here, but we should clarify things between us so that there's no misunderstanding.
I am able to arrange and run the events, I have an outgoing personality and speak Hebrew fluently, but I would prefer to partner with you and with the grey hair club and olim in tech and many other such organizations/Meetups, and MadeInJlm etc etc in order to create what I have in mind, and if we all are on the same page on this and work together, we can all have a piece of eventual profits if there are any.
In terms of venue: I would like to try out something innovative, namely meeting in the Cafe Joe in "Chenyon Shapirim", the park-and-ride 15 minutes from Tel Aviv so it is not so far from Jlm. I don't want to perpetuate the "bubble" aspect of these two cities,it's particularly crazy when they are so geographically close to each other.
Shapirim is very accessible by various buses from Jlm, and by a free shuttle from the center and north of Tel Aviv (see the map of the shuttle to TA on the linked page), and it is right off the highway for those with cars.
The cafe is large, and open until 10 PM. I spoke to the manager, and they're ok with everyone buying a coffee, which is cheap.
If so, I would put in the Meetup notice that people without cars from Jlm can meet at various spots at a certain time to ride together, it is only about 30 minutes, and at the end of the event it will be so easy for everyone to get back to Jlm or TA. And obviously via the Meetup page participants can arrange for ride-sharing.
But I am not stuck on Shapirim, it could be that I will first arrange a meet in Jlm and in TA separately and then join them. But I will tell people right away that my vision is to eventually have NY, Jlm & TA in a real-time meetup some Sunday evening here when it is afternoon in NY.
What interest do you have in such a project, and time-investment can you see for yourself in such a project eventually? At the moment there is no need for your time, it would be at some later point, right now I can arrange everything.
Thanks,
Avi

Keith, hi
To remind you, I was at your event in Tel Aviv and in Jlm, and we spoke a few times. There are two types of Meetup I am interested in running:
1. A few months ago I mentioned my plans to have various groups help each other, eg olim and older Israeli tech people, two groups which have advantages and disadvantages which complement each other, whether as cofounders or part of a team. Young Olim have youth and energy and access to internaitonal markets, while older Israelis have lots of experience in tech, know well how things are done here in general, have many contacts in the local eco-system, and often leads to contacts in government etc. I spoke to someone who runs "Olim in Tech", and the one who runs the Israeli "Grey-haired club" and both were open to the idea.
2. I was in NY for three months until recently, and while there also arranged a Meet for "solitary founders". In other words not people seeking cofounders but rather the goal is for solitary founders to offer mutual support and advice and even possibly be involved in helping each other's project in some way. I'm planning to arrange such a Meet in Jlm and then TA, and perhaps have the NY and Israel groups 'meet' as well.
The cofounder club is actually a very good vehicle for these two types of Meetups, although the events are NOT necessarily for finding cofounders. However I think it would be interesting for me to also run some events which ARE geared to finding cofounders.
So, let's talk....

Dear Member,

I've been out of the country a lot as well as having full time clients that I sell for so I'm calling on you, our members to volunteer for becoming part of the running of the club.
Benefits include knowing everyone... members, community managers and investors as they generally approach me after events, so a great way to get exposure and develop your network.
Let me know if you're interested?

what I have been searching for through all the Meet Up listing. I have two ideas, all in the

I have been alone working on these two projects for some time .
Please advise me how to follow up with you suggestion, whether we can meet at your convenience which is what I prefer if possible.

Paul, hi
Thanks for writing, and it will be good to see you at our Meetup.
I myself am not a consultant or expert, but one of the goals of the meetup group is for solitary founders to be able to give each other advice, suggestions, moral support, and also where relevant and appropriate to share resources and skills. So though I myself am not qualified more than anyone else, I definitely think you can potentially benefit by attending.
I'll add you to the list and notify you when we plan a meetup.

new ideas, as in the case I mentioned in my email , and want to meet and find people with same light minded professionals to explore new ventures.
Please advise me the date for next meeting. Mind you that I will be out of town

Any way, I like to meet you at your convenience, having a coup of coffee or lunch ,whatever,
privately , just two of us , or a small group of your friends . You pick the place.

Note: So far we are only five people - my fault, since I haven't posted any invitations for a while.

Great to hear back from you.
We actually met yesterday, very sorry about that the scheduling being so rushed, mostly this was because I will soon be leaving town for a while.
There were three of us, the meeting went very well, but four would have been perfect, so we definitely missed out in not having you there.
At some point I'll write up a report of the meeting and what we decided, and I'll clue you in.
In the meantime, it would be good if you could write in a bit more about what you would seek to gain from attending (it can be advice, feedback, finding a cofounder etc), what you can contribute to others that they would gain from your presence, and how you would like this group to be different from other Meetups or networking or panel discussion etc that you have attended. No rush, it can also be in a week or two, the next meeting will not be for a while.
Thanks!
