Enhance the student experience by expanding access to professional development opportunities, interaction with senator-led initiatives, and increased pathways for recognition
Phase II:
Senator-Led Initiatives: Encourage senator passion projects and annual events that appreciate staff and faculty, support student needs, and grow the campus community.
Assess Previous Fellowship Participation and Gaps: Review past student engagement with fellowships to understand both barriers and factors that contribute to success.
Evaluate Historical Internship Accessibility: Examine previous internship participation as well as barriers that prevent the expansion of Internship opportunities for students. Collaborate with the Success Center, Center for Global Engagement, and other external partners to advocate for and expand internship pathways that are both legally viable and professionally enriching.
Student Recognition Programs and Scholarship Opportunities: Develop awards that highlight diverse forms of student achievement based on Augustana’s five core values (Christian, Liberal Arts, Excellence, Community, and Service)
Assess previous transportation initiatives, including SAM routes, Lyft partnerships, and campus van services, to identify usage patterns and gauge student interest
Phase II:
Identify Improvement Opportunities: Analyze the financial efficiency of current transportation efforts to identify areas for cost reduction. Explore opportunities to reallocate resources toward higher-impact mobility solutions while ensuring equitable access across the student body.
Enhance on-campus dining services to meet the evolving needs of students by prioritizing quality, accessibility, and inclusivity in both daily and long-term dining services
Phase II:
Expand Dining Services: Facilitate regular communication between students and dining services to address concerns, improve meal quality, and ensure dining hours and locations align with student demand.
Enhance Food Availability Options: Revisit past student-led efforts to address food insecurity and limited availability. Partner with relevant departments such as Sodexo, the Office of Faith and Spiritual Life, and local organizations to explore sustainable, cost-effective solutions.
KEY EFFICIENCY SUCCESSES
Phase II Transportation Initiative: Cost-share model for SAM On-Demand and Bus Rides free to students from August 25th to October 4th. Emergency Lyft passes were given out to all students who applied from November 11th to January 31st. A transition in transportation decisions from the ASA Exec to the J-Term Transportation Committee and subsequently the Augustana Student Association Senate.
Financial Re-organization: Streamlining the finance process by consolidating funding requests, making ASA more transparent, efficient, and accessible to the entire student body. This re-organization reduces barriers, and fosters greater trust in ASA’s stewardship of student funds, ultimately making the association more approachable, responsive, and supportive of campus initiatives.
