11/30 & 12/3-6 | Reading Act I of the The Crucible

To entice a kitten off of the roof Roberto opened a tin of tuna fish immediately the kitten lept for the treat and landed at Robertos feet.
Shreya hasnt paid her school libary fine consequently she can’t neither lend more books or recieve her report card
Read Act I & Complete a sketchnotes covering the following:
- 1 quote per character (include page #)
- 3 visuals
- Fill the page
- COLOR! Have Fun! Do it for your brain! Remember, we remember 90% of what we can visualize.
- Three brief reflections on the motivations behind 3 characters
- Explain the “Why” behind their behavior - what do these people want? What are they after? What do they not have and what do they want? Etc.

11/19/18 & 11/20/18 | The Puritans & the Salem Witch Trials
See Mrs. Strobel for a copy of the Puritan Stations packet to learn more about Puritanism and to begin understanding why the Salem Witch Trials resulted in the execution of 20 Americans and the incarceration of hundreds.
We also watched Season 1, Episode 23 ("The Crucible") of Sabrina the Teenage Witch for further context of the times & hysteria.

Go to Classroom > Classwork > The Crucible > Red Scare & McCarthism: Watch the videos, read the articles, and complete your very own self-guided tour of McCarthyism and what was happening during the 1950s Red Scare.
*Really* take this time to try and grasp what was happening in the 1950s. Not only is this time period and what was happening in America interesting, but it is essential to truly understanding the deeper commentary behind “The Crucible." Have fun!

This year writing will be a major focus, its' important to understand grammer rules, without them you're writing is difficult to understand. Once a week well begin class with one of these sets of M.U.G. sentences, M.U.G. by the way is an abbreviation of "mechanics, usage and grammer"

- Technological advancements make life better for everyone.
