School assembly
On a Friday we will still be running our school assembly virtually to allow all classed from nursery to year 6 to attend. Throughout the week Mrs Littlewood or Mrs Burr will hold assembly for certain year groups in the main hall. This week, Mrs Littlewood held an assembly in the main hall for children in years 3 and 4.
During today's virtual assembly Mrs Littlewood was delighted to welcome all children from nursery to year 6. Nursery children loved being part of the assembly and waved at the rest of the school. We had a lovely round up from some classes telling us what they had been learning over the last week and getting an update on their token collection.
Mrs Littlewood finished off assembly by saying farewell to Mrs Hardy who is starting her maternity leave today. We wish you well and keep in touch!
New nursery starters
Over the last week we have been welcoming our new nursery children to Oldcastle. Mrs Evans and the rest of the nursery team are happy to report that the children are settling in really well - they have enjoyed visits from Barney and making new friends.

This month's school values are Managing Changes and Determination and Perseverance
Enrichment
A busy afternoon with enrichment today we've had cooking, board games, netball, fencing, weaving, mud kitchen fun, tennis, rugby and outdoor learning! Phew a busy time for all children and staff.
Fundraising challenge
Before the school holidays we told you about a fundraising challenge that Avya from year 2was completing over the summer holidays. We are delighted to let you know that Avya successfully completed her walking challenge to fund raise for Velindre. She managed to walk 57km in August. Avya and her father are overwhelmed by the contributions as it exceeded the target by almost 400% (£1980). Thank you very much to everyone for supporting Avya in her challenge and contributing towards a great cause. The family extend special thanks to Velindre for organising a event on her last lap in Velindre premises recognising her effort.
