We are deeply saddened by the news that HM Queen Elizabeth II has passed away. Her lifetime commitment to public service is inspiring. We send our sincere condolences to the Royal Family. As a mark of respect, we flew the union jack flag on our flag pole at half mast today
This morning, Mrs Littlewood held a whole school assembly to commemorate the life of the Queen and explain the importance role that the Queen held serving Britain. Mrs Littlewood explained what would happen next and introduced the new King to the children.
Welcome Back
It has been so lovely to welcome our children back to school this week. We have seen lots of excited faces entering school in readiness to see their friends and meet their new teacher. The children have all setled back into school life and will be looking forward to what the new school year brings. We sent a message to parents at the start of the week with a reminder of the school start time - 8:55am. From this term we will be ringing our school bell at 8:50am. Once the bell rings, children can line up ready to start the school day. All doors and gates will be locked at 9:00am, so if you arrive at school after 9:00am, please bring your child to the main office. Thank you for your support ensuring the start of the school day runs smoothly and on time.
School Values
This month's school values are Managing Changes and Determination and Perseverance
Reward Scheme
Our coin collector box in main reception has been looking very sad this week with no coins displayed. This was soon rectified by Friday afternoon as the House Captains collected the class coins and filled it up! Every child in the school is allocated a house colour and is able to collect a coin for their house for a variety of reasons including good manners, great work etc.
Enrichment
The enrichment programme will continue to take place on Friday afternoons. Enrichment provides opportunities to try new and varied activities that may not strictly fit into the curriculum but develop character resilience, and motivation and encourage them to pursue broader goals. It helps to teach life skills that benefit children beyond the classroom and can develop an appreciation for cultural and community issues, teamwork and social responsibility.
To see what your child’s year group will be doing this term, please see the table of activities below. We are happy for all our pupils to wear their PE kits on a Friday even if they are not doing a sports activity.
Attendance Information
As a school we continually monitor attendance and punctuality. We work with the Educational Welfare Officer (EWO) to support children and families around attendance. The above table shows the impact low attendance can have for a child and their future. Lateness can also have an impact on a child’s learning. They can miss key information, retrievals and the start of lessons. It also can affect their well being as miss out on the start of the day, emotional check ins with their teacher and peers and key information for the day.
From September we will be regularly contacting families with low attendance or multiple late marks by telephone and/or letter and arranging meetings to help support families. If the issue continues or needs additional support the EWO can become involved. If anyone is concerned about attendance or feels they need support there is an opportunity to work with our Family Engagement Officer on strategies that could help. For further information please contact the school via the ask email.
