STEM and Digital Days

This week children have participated in a digital and STEM day. As part of our ongoing Space Quality Mark application this weeks STEM focus was on Planets. Children throughout the school looked at Planets and how the solar system was formed. Each year group has focused on a different planet and undertaken a variety of activities based around that planet.

  • Nursery - Earth. Children have been using Oreo Cookies to illustrate the moons phases.
  • Reception - Uranus. Children have been looking at comets.
  • Year 1 - Mars. Is there water on mars? What happens if there is?
  • Year 2 - Venus. Why are planets round?
  • Year 3 - Mercury. What is a solar eclipse?
  • Year 4 - Nepture. Kuiper Belt - what is it?
  • Year 5 - Jupiter. What is a meteor shower?
  • Year 6 - Saturn. Why does Saturn have rings but other planets don’t?

During the digital day, children focused on producing digital resources on the the topic 'What my community means to me'. The work that children produce will be entered into our Eisteddfod Digital competition.

As a school we receive advice from Public Health Wales who are coordinating with Public Health England to ensure organisations work together to prevent any spread of the virus. The school has robust risk management procedures in place and we are confident that we have the necessary plans in place should we require to implement them. If you would like more advice or support please visit the Public Health Wales website. Coronavirus Update
