Curiosity - wanting to know; desire to learn, to explore, to investigate
Quote: "We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious, and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths." ~ Walt Disney (1901-1966), co-founder of Walt Disney Productions
Amid current changes and uncertainty, we still can foster the children's love of learning and exploring. Since grades are not currently involved, this may be a good time to further instill this trait. This character or wondering will help students to shift the focus from fear, anxiety and even boredom to discover themselves and other novice subject they have not heard or done before. . Use the time with your children this week to help them find curiosity within them if you can.
Suggested ideas:
1. Prompt the students to reflect what they have done to stay curious during school closure.
"I want to learn about ...."
"I can find curiosity inside me by...."
"This is what I can do to help others to feel curious....."
"I love exploring ...."
2. Listen and acknowledge when they make choices that reflect curiosity
3. Integrate this character trait in your lesson if possible.
4 Select books to read with the students. Here are some examples to inspire curiosity.
5. Record your child responses and/or take a picture of their responses and share it with me. I will put them together to encourage our school community.
Stay curious and further explore areas you love learning!
