The purpose of the OKASBO Conference is to engage school business professionals in collaborative learning, equip them with relevant shared knowledge and best practices, essential skills, and practical resources, to support their ability to excel in effective, ethical, and sustainable school business and operational practices.
This year, we’re centering our fall conference on a message that cuts through the noise of titles, tasks, and to‑do lists: Leadership starts with who you are.
Inspired by the ideas in Lead From Who You Are, our theme invites school business leaders to reconnect with the identity behind their influence—the steady core that shapes how they show up when the work gets heavy, fast, or uncertain. Before we talk about strategy, systems, or solutions, we’re grounding ourselves in the truth that presence matters as much as position.
Lead From Who You Are explores the Personal, People, and Process Rhythms that help leaders stay centered and human in the middle of demanding work. When leaders know who they are, they lead better where they are—and the people around them feel that difference immediately. Leadership isn’t defined by authority; it’s defined by consistency, connection, and the way we show up for one another when it counts.
This fall, we’re creating space for our members to reflect, and rediscover the “why” behind their leadership. Because the work you do matters—but who you are while doing it matters even more. When you know who you are, you can blaze new trails with confidence.
