Welcome to the exciting journey of 6th grade! My name is Mrs. McDaniel, and I am thrilled to be your child's teacher this year. As we embark on this adventure together, I want to share a little about myself.
This is my 11th year teaching, and I had the pleasure of spending 6 years with 6th graders at Cloverland and 4 years with 8th graders in Stockton. I am ecstatic to teach here at Magnolia this year! My academic journey took place at Stanislaus State, where I earned my bachelor's degree in liberal studies, teaching credentials, and a master's degree in school administration.
I absolutely love teaching 6th grade. There is something incredibly special about each and every single kiddo that I have the pleasure of teaching. I am dedicated to creating a supportive and engaging environment where every student can thrive and reach their full potential.
As a parent of three children aged 17, 14, and 12, I understand firsthand how challenging yet rewarding parenting can be. I want you to know that I take the responsibility of teaching your child very seriously and am committed to providing the best educational experience possible.
Our classroom will be a place where students are encouraged to ask questions, explore new ideas, and develop a love for learning. We will work together on exciting projects, dive into fascinating subjects, and build the skills needed for future success. I believe in fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere where every student feels valued and respected.
Communication between home and school is vital for a successful year. I will keep you informed about our classroom activities, important dates, and your child's progress. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns. Your partnership is essential in making this year a memorable and rewarding experience for your child. Together, we will make this 6th-grade year one of growth, achievement, and fun.
Love,
Mrs. McDaniel
There are plenty of YouTube videos to help with EACH problem set/classwork. Click the dropdown menu to see some helpful links.
Let me start by saying this: I do not feel students should have a ton of homework after they have been at school all day, however, practicing math and having concepts spiraled and reviewed throughout the year is extremely beneficial to their learning. I try to give as much time in class to complete their homework.
Students will be given a weekly review packet on Mondays that are due by Friday. Each packet has ELA daily review and math daily review. Students may complete the packet in one day or 4 days but the entire packet is due by Friday.
Students will be given daily math problems from the "problem set" in their math notebooks. There is a homework helper page in the book, and they should refer to the notes they took in class to assist them. If they are absent, please refer to the math homework helper dropdown for helpful videos and links.
All incomplete classwork is homework. Therefore if a student is utilizing class time wisely, they will not have extra homework to complete. Any missing assignments (excluding tests) are also considered homework.
