The Library Media Center is open from 7:30 AM to 3:45 PM. Students are encouraged to make use of the Library Media Center for independent research, individual study, group work or reading during study halls or before or after the school day. The following guidelines and procedures have been established to provide a Library Media Center that operates efficiently and provides an atmosphere that is conducive to academic study.
Behavior Expectations
1. The Library Media Center and its materials are provided as extensions of our learning environments for all students to access to enhance their education. Students are encouraged to make use of the Library Media Center for quiet independent research, individual study, group work, or reading during study halls or before or after the school day. They should arrive at the library with any necessary materials needed for their work.
Inappropriate, disruptive or destructive conduct will lead to a loss of these privileges.
Acceptable behavior includes:
a. Checking out and requesting materials
b. Reading
c. Studying
d. Completing school assignments
e. Quiet group work
2. Food and drinks are not permitted in the Library-Media Center with the exception of bottled water.
3. Students who come to the library from a class must come with a pass from the teacher.
4. Study hall groups should report to the library directly from the study hall. Students arriving from study hall are expected to stay until the end of the period.
5. Upon entering the Library Media Center during school hours, students must sign in using their student ID/ barcode.
6. Students must limit numbers at each seating area in order to maintain a quiet, respectful atmosphere. Group work is permitted if done so quietly.
7. Use of conference rooms is permitted with permission or if scheduled in advance.
Circulation Expectations
1. Library materials can be checked out for an assigned time period. Fiction and Non-fiction are circulated for four weeks. Certain reference materials may be checked out overnight.
2. To locate a book in the library, students should log utilize the online library catalog. If assistance is needed, students should ask a member of the library staff.
3. To renew a library book, the student must have the book in hand to do so.
4. When library books are overdue, students will receive a notice via email. Excessively overdue books will be marked as lost and treated as an obligation.
Printer/ Copier Expectations: There is a printer/copier in the library for student use.
1. The printer is for student assignments only. Color printing should only be done when absolutely necessary.
2. Please be aware of the number of pages you are printing.
3. Please do not make copies without getting permission from the library staff. Teacher assistants should not use the library printer for teacher copies.
4. If you are unsure of how to complete a print job, please find someone from the library staff.
5. Abuse of printer privileges could result in disciplinary actions
