Special Dietary Needs:
If a student has a food allergy or medical condition, parents must send a written doctor’s note to the school nurse. For dietary substitutions, federal regulations require students to have a written doctor’s note. The nurse will forward this information to food service personnel. This information will be entered into the POS so that the cashier may be discretely alerted once the student’s ID number has been entered. Should a student need a special dietary menu to meet their needs, please schedule a meeting with the food service director at (610) 469-5127.
Parent Requests:
All parent requests should be updated annually for student requirements or restrictions that do not require a doctor’s note. To do this, parents must notify the Food Service office at 610-469-5701.
Cafeteria Conduct
Acceptable student conduct is important to creating a positive, comfortable atmosphere for all students during the lunch period. Students are not permitted to be in the cafeteria during any lunch period than the one assigned. Students may buy their lunch and/or side items or may bring lunch from home. All students are required to be in the cafeteria area during their assigned lunch period and to eat in the cafeteria or the quiet lunch area, room 159 next to the cafeteria. Students will be permitted to eat lunch at the tables outside the cafeteria, weather permitting. A student, who is found to be elsewhere during his/her assigned lunch without a valid pass, will be issued a “class cut” and standard consequences will apply. Passes will be issued by cafeteria monitors for the lavatory and school store.
Students are expected to behave appropriately in the cafeteria. Such conduct includes:
● Lining up in serving lines in single file;
● Keeping the lines moving;
● Leaving the table and floor area clean;
● Pushing chairs back under the table;
● Placing all trash in designated trash cans and recycling bins;
● Placing used dishes and utensils in proper places;
● Keeping noise at conversational levels;
● Refraining from any kind of "horseplay" or other disruptive behavior at the tables;
● Purchasing food only during their designated lunch period;
● Not taking any food or drinks from the cafeteria, except water.
Food/Drink in the Classrooms and Hallways
Students are not permitted to consume food or beverages in classrooms or hallways except in instances of planned projects relating to the curriculum or with a special pass from a teacher. With the exception of bottles of water, possession of food or drink in the hallways will result in appropriate disciplinary action. Family and Consumer Science cooking activities and cultural foods relating to world language or social studies are examples of acceptable classroom learning activities.
