Below is all the information about how to join the Beginning Band here at Oak Grove.

Hello 5th Grade Families,

It’s an exciting time—Beginning Band sign-ups are just around the corner! Starting Wednesday, September 3rd, all 5th graders will have the chance to see demonstrations and try out different band instruments during music class. Afterward, we’ll guide each student in selecting the instrument that will give them the best chance for success.

We’d also like to invite you to our Beginning Band Information Meeting on Wednesday, September 10th, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. This year’s meeting will be held 100% virtually for your convenience. A grade-wide email will be sent with the link, and you can also find it in the box below.

Even if your child is still undecided about joining band, we encourage you to tune in. Having the information now will make things much easier if they decide to join later!

Band Class Supplies

The following supplies are relatively inexpensive and are things that will help facilitate a happy musician and a functioning instrument. Each item includes a link to the Sweetwater website for easy ordering.

All STUDENTS (must have)

• Instrument - Percussion bell kits will most likely need to come to school in the beginning.

• A copy of Essential Elements 2000, book 1 for your student's instrument (linked under each instrument)

• Pencil

• Foldable music stand (if not currently owning one...it stays home)

Additional materials used in class and for practice- the Essential Elements interactive web version of the book. This is free and we will get students set-up. They need the access code from the book to get started.
