Arctic Expedition LB21



The Arctic expedition 2021 of the Italian Icebreaker Laura Bassi took place during 6th August –14th September 2021. The expedition co-financed by OGS and the PRA that supported 3 research projects, was split in two Legs: Leg-1 Bergen 6th August – Longyearbyen 29th August; and Leg 2 Longyearbyen 30th August – Bergen 14th August. The acquisition for the project IRIDYA took place during both Legs.


IRIDYA acquisition area. The new acquisition included:

3150 km2 of multibeam bathymetry using an echosounder Kongsberg EM 304 MKII

1500 km of Sub-bottom profiles using a Kongsberg-Geoacoustic Topas PS18

Piston cores: 20.65 m

Multi-cores: over 15 m partly sliced onboard (225 sub-samples)
