WINN: What I Need Now
The Kindergarten team, in partnership with other pertinent staff, formally review student assessment data about every 8 weeks. The data is sorted to identify academic skills/areas in which students are in need of intervention or enrichment. Depending on what staff is available to assist the team in providing instruction, students across the grade level are placed in groups with instructors who will address their specific areas of need.
We begin the Kindergarten year addressing gaps students may have in English Language Arts and math skills, in relation to their peers as they enter the full-day program. As teachers get to know students and continue to track progress, sometimes changes are necessary between the formal data meetings to ensure all students are getting what they need in a timely manner.
