There is an ancient Maldivian tale of how the first tunas came to the Islands. It is said that a great mālimi (navigator) sailed to the edge of the world where a colossal enderi (Black Coral) tree rises above the strong currents. There they encountered a school of peculiar striped fish jumping at the base of the black coral. Believing the tunas to be a divine gift, the mālimi whispered a magical chant and performed a ritual, and the tunas followed them home, and settled into the deep waters of the Maldives.
The Black Coral wide band statement ring is inspired by this surreal coral on the edge of the world, that rises above the ocean like a majestic black tree, with sweeping waters dropping down to infinity beyond it.
