Studies* show that having male role models read to children contributes significantly to better all-around school success, language, and cognitive development, and even better emotional and mental health!
To encourage reading and literacy in our entire student population we have decided to invite dads, grandfathers, uncles, big brothers, or other male role models to participate in reading to our classes in the library!
Consider having a male mentor represent your family in this way and read to a class. To volunteer, contact the librarian at sbeckstrand@odysseycharter.net.
Notes: We read our stories during the first 15 minutes of library time so be there on time or early or you will miss it. The librarian will provide a book for you to read. If you have one you would prefer to read, make arrangements with the librarian ahead of time. Reading must take less than 15 minutes so that students will have time to select books during their library time.
