The chain of infection is the means by which a pathogen develops and moves from its original environment to a susceptible host. Review the following terms and their definitions before watching the video below. As you watch the video, write down the terms and provide an example for each. For example, a host can be a human.
Pathogen - An infectious agent that can cause disease.
Reservoir - Places where pathogens live.
Portal of Exit - The way the pathogen leaves a reservoir.
Mode of Transmission - The way a pathogen travels. There are two types of transmission and they include direct or indirect.
Portal of Entry - The way a pathogen can enter a new host.
Host- The organism that a pathogen infects.
Consider how fire and infections are similar and record your findings.
