At the end of this lesson, you will be able to:
create a chess pawn in TinkerCad
extruding and hollowing out in TinkerCad
there are certain rules that need to be followed in making chess pieces:
see below
the standards we will follow are:
the chessboard squares will be assumed to be 50 mm x 50 mm
4 pawns will exactly fit inside this square, therefore the base diameter of a pawn will be:
50 / 2 = 25 mm diameter for pawn
the diameter of the piece's base should measure 45% of its heightΒ
the height and diameter of the pieces are as follows:
King β 95 mm height β 95 x 50% = 47.5 mm diameter
Queen β 85 mm height β 85 x 50% = 42.5 mm diameter
Bishop β 70 mm height β 70 x 50% = 35 mm diameter
Knight β 60 mm height β 60 x 50% = 30 mm diameter
Rook β 55 mm height β 55 x 50% = 27.5 mm diameter
Pawn β 50 mm height β 50 x 50% = 25 mm diameter
here is a step-by-step lesson on making a pawn
if you want a pawn that looks more like a modern pawn you could follow this lesson
the problem is that the pawn will not be "legal" size
you will have to "enlarge" it to make it legal size
I did 25%
it will still not be tall enough
I moved the sphere up and the stretched out the 2 cones
presto, now it is the correct size!
keep all the pieces separate, you will need them for the rest of the pieces!
nil
create a pawn with the above rules
ENSURE you take screenshots throughout the entire process
you need to show all your steps!
submit it to be printed out
