Critical Thinking Global Competency: Targeted Deep Learning Strategies

This year all schools are expected to focus on the Global Competency of Critical Thinking.  Schools can select another global competency if they wish.  

Schools are encouraged to develop a baseline for staff and student capacity for Critical Thinking. 

Sample Goal - Evaluating information and arguments

• We will develop strategies to determine clearer understandings of whether information is trustworthy, relevant, and useful, and can explain my thinking to others.

Sample Goal - Meaningful knowledge construction

• We will work with students to think about topics in new and exciting ways and will be able to explain why my new knowledge is useful.

Sample Goal - Using technology for learning

• We will model and use a variety of digital resources to evaluate, generate, and explore both new and unfamiliar ideas and arguments from different points of view.
