Learning Outcome

At the end of this lesson, you will be able to:

• log into your @stu.ocsb.ca account

• email from your school email account to Ms Raffin, using a Chrome browser

• connect to this course's Hāpara Workspace and submit your work to it

• go over classroom rules & sanitization procedures

• to receive the Immaculata Tech Certificate when you graduate, you need to have 5 courses in technology

  • if you already took grade 9 tech (TAS1O), that's one completed...

  • if you already took grade 10 programming (ICD2O) or grade 10 engineering (TEJ2O), there are 2 more...

  • you could take grade 11&12 multimedia (TGJ3M, ASM3M, TGJ4M)

  • you could take grade 11 & 12 yearbook (TGG3M, TGG4M)

  • this course counts

  • you could take grade 12 programming (ICS4U/C) or grade 12 engineering (TEJ4M)

• go over the ICT SHSM:

  • if you plan to do 4 of the following "Major" courses in grade 11/12:

    • Programming (this course)

    • Physics

    • Engineering

    • Communications Technology

    • Photography

    • Yearbook

    • Construction

  • you are likely taking a grade 11 Math and grade 11 English, so those are covered

  • if you plan to take any 1 of the following "Other" courses in grade 11/12:

    • Art, Photography or Communications Technology

    • Accounting, Marketing or International Business

    • Biology, Chemistry or Physics

  • you need to do a 2-credit co-op placement in your area of interest

    • this will give you real work experience towards your future pathway!

  • over the course of grade 11/12, you need to complete 3 elective certifications (usually done in class), 2 mandatory certifications, 1 experiential learning & 1 career planning:

    • Ottawa U field trip in civil & electrical engineering, virtual reality & more (1 day) - experiential learning 

    • Algonquin field trip in graphic/interior design, computer engineering and/or animation (1 day) - experiential learning

    • leadership, project management or customer service certification (1 day)

    • online software training in your area of choice (i.e. Photoshop, Premiere Pro, programming language of your choice)

    • St. John's Ambulance First Aid & CPR training (1 day + some online work beforehand) - mandatory

    • sector partner experience (1 day) - mandatory

• go over the marking system

  • if you fall behind, skip the extra portion until you catch up!

• go over how to use this website

  • make sure you are always using a Google Chrome Web Browser for everything in this course

  • many websites we will be using were designed to specifically use Chrome, so please ensure you are using it (even if you are using a Mac at home)!
