Project AWARE Overview

OCIC's Project AWARE serves 17 rural schools across 11 participating member districts by providing two dimensions of technical assistance:

• MTSS Training and Coaching
• Cooperatively Providing Direct Behavioral Support Services

The implementation of MTSS takes time. Project AWARE staff guide school sites through implementation using a four-stage model:

1. Exploration
2. Installation
3. Initial Implementation
4. Full Implementation

MTSS Training AND COACHING

Under the guidance of the Project AWARE Leadership team, school sites are assigned an MTSS Site Coach from OCIC. Each MTSS Site Coach works closely with a school-based site facilitator to assist in the development and implementation of a site-specific OTISS framework at their school.

Site coaches meet with a variety of school-based teams on a regular basis to review academic and behavioral data.

Additionally, professional development is provided on topics related to MTSS, such as:

• Implementation of Universal Screening & Progress Monitoring Tools (DIBELS, AIMSweb, STAR)
• Data-based Decision-Making
• Best Practices in Classroom Management
• Basics of PBIS
• Tier 2 & 3 Behavior Interventions Basic: Overview of Flowchart & Tier 2 Interventions
• Tier 2 & 3 Behavior Advanced: Initial Line of Inquiry
• Tier 2 & 3 Academics Basic
• Tier 2 & 3 Academics Advanced
• Trainings on the school's site-specific developed model

COOPERATIVELY PROVIDING INTERDISCIPLINARY SUPPORT SERVICES

A multidisciplinary team of staff and practicum students are also utilized to provide services across tiers to our rural districts, including:

• Teaching Second Step lessons at Tier 1
• Providing instructional consultation at Tier 2
• Conducting FBAs at Tier 3
• Conducting psycho-educational evaluations
