Step 4: Mission Statement

5th Grade

"I started with just having students write on a post-it when they saw a classmate following our mission, but then I noticed students writing generic comments or only things to their friends. I decided to type our mission and leave space underneath and now I have students highlight the part of our mission that they saw classmates following and then they write exactly what they were doing. Much more effective!"

4th Grade

Class mission posted for all students to see. All students contributed their name to the mission board. Shout outs at the bottom are written by students.

Student and teacher "do's" and "will's" are clear.

5th Grade - Plan

The plan has the date and what proficient is (4 out of 5). The learning target is identified.

Strategy Bank is visible and includes different strategies students can implement.


Visual Strategies Bank

Strategies are written and have visual representations.

5th Grade - Study

Pre/Post Data - students can see their overall growth. The Plus has a strategy "My Dear Aunt Sally" that helped students learn. Delta identifies opportunity for improvement.
