The Math League

PROJECT EXTRA students of Oceanside will soon become active participants in a worldwide mathematics competition called The Math League. They will complete one practice contest and will then explore The Math League website to see all that is offered to them by way of further enrichment in mathematics and problem-solving. PROJECT EXTRA students will be given user names and passwords to access ALL previous Math League contests at http://online.mathleague.com/ in order to prepare for the final contest. Scores and progress charts are immediately made available to the student and the teacher. There are also analysis and review sections on the site geared to the student’s specific performance.

In Oceanside's PROJECT EXTRA program, students will be given one complete practice Math League contest in order to familiarize themselves with the format. The actual contest will take place mid-February for sixth graders and mid-April for fourth/fifth graders. The top three students in each grade level in The Math League contest district-wide will receive trophies.

In addition to the free online review at: http://online.mathleague.com/, practice problems are also available through books published by the Math League organization available at: http://www.mathleague.com/index.php/online-store/contest-books-grades-4-6-grades-7-8-algebra-1-high-school/36-mathleaguewebsite/shopping/52-grades-45-and-6-contest-books.
