Dance I

Students do not need any background in dance in order to take this class. Students can audition into Dance II, or III and bypass Dance I. The freshman level of dance focuses on the development of dance technique in different dance genres; social dance, ballet, jazz, and modern. Students are expected to earn a grade toward a higher proficiency in this class to move onto the next level. The techniques learned throughout the class will be showcased in some performance format whether it be through informal showings during class time or in the end of the year showcase, Ocean Dance Theater. Students will develop self-discipline and teamwork through collaboration and practice. Students are encouraged to join Ocean Dance Company, the OTHS Dance Club.
