French is an official language in 29 countries and is spoken by over 275 million people world-wide. Knowing French can increase opportunities to meet new people, learn about their culture, and consider alternate views of the world. It allows us to be better educated tourists with the ability to speak with more locals.
4. French is a great asset in the world of work –
Being able to speak French fluently will increase future job prospects and salary potential. Knowledge of a second language is essential in over 60 occupations, especially ones that involve working and interacting with people.
5. The DELF and AP French credit are excellent qualifications on a résumé
All Grade 12 French students (both Core and Immersion) have the opportunity to challenge the DELF exam in the semester that they are taking FSF 4U or FIF 4U. As well, students (usually in grade 12) may take the AP French exam in May, regardless of which semester they take French.
