Bienvenue and Bienvenidos to the Modern Languages Department website!

A.Y. Jackson offers both Core French and French Immersion programs from grade 9 through grade 12. In addition, we offer level 1 (grade 10), level 2 (grade 11) and level 3 (grade 12) Spanish language courses. 

Language courses are designed to help students advance their knowledge and skills in all four language competencies - listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Our ultimate goal is always to encourage students to build both their proficiency and the desire to approach real-world situations in French or Spanish with confidence.

This is done through a variety of class activities, including:

•  large and small group discussions;

• oral presentations and multi-media projects;

• film studies;

• the study of level-appropriate texts (articles, short stories, novels, plays, etc.); and

• grammar lessons, activities, and exercises
