WHAT CAN WE TEACH?
It's like a secure schools situation - Can't send kids into the Halls; Can't send them to interview people around the school; There aren't likely to be many events to cover.
COHORT A/B CONTINUITY
How do we keep the two cohorts in step with each other, despite the unequal number of days in class from week to week.
PLATFORM DISRUPTION INSURANCE
If "IN PERSON" work is disrupted or has to be cancelled altogether, what platform can the students continue to work on from home?
SICK WORK PREPARATION
If a teacher becomes sick, or is forced to self isolate due to the illness of someone in their "bubble", what work can be left for a supply or on-call teacher to fall back on?
DESKTOP PRODUCTION
AUDIO: Podcast, Radio Shows,
Photo Editing
Animation
Video
BUDDY SYSTEM
Partner cohort A students with cohort B students to generate and share assets with each other. Someone who is "in class" can help someone "at home" and vice versa.
Prioritize the "at home" learners"
DISTANCE LEARNING FOCUS
Plan all curriculum as though it's being taught online as we starting to do in March. Consider "In Class" time as a bonus that can enrich the curriculum, but isn't completely dependent on it.
ACTIVITIES
Can't plan Video or Photography Shoots in the hallways
SOFTWARE
Can't rely on Adobe Suite license - if we get sent home, the kids won't finish
UNITS
BROWSER BASED
SoundTrap - Podcasts
TinkerCad
PC BASED
OBS on Win10 and Mac
Anim8or
Reaper music
HEAVY WEIGHT
Unreal
Blender
Let's start by pooling our resources
On this site, to create an organized reference with graphics and additional links
In our CommTech Google+ Community as our "posting" interface, while this site can build on the proposals and ideas pitched there.
Scott H has assembled links in this spreadsheet for OCDSB CommTech teachers
There's an Ontario wide list of resources can be found here
Editors: Feel free to CONTRIBUTE (and COMMENT) to the materials here, and COPY any relevant content to your own class websites for use with your students! EMAIL jeffreymay@ocdsb.ca if you need access.
There seem to be FOUR GENERAL CATEGORIES of CommTech student that we have to cater to:
Able and willing to run the Adobe CC suite from home
Chromebooks and older Desktops. Must rely on chrome-based applications
Must rely on mobile device applications
Will require support and more creative analog solutions
For each unit that you teach, consider how an activity could be accomplished by students in each category. The specific UNITS will be organized through the website menu
