The Oberlin City Schools Band Program offers many opportunities for students: 5th Grade Band, 6th Grade Band, 7th Grade Band, 8th Grade Band, High School Concert Band, and the Oberlin High School Phoenix Marching Band. The OHS Concert Band has earned Superior ratings at OMEA District Large Group Adjudicated Event, and has earned over 15 Superior ratings at OMEA State Large Group Adjudicated Events. Band students have taken trips to Chicago, New York, Pittsburgh, and Florida, and students have been invited to perform in regional youth ensembles like Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra, and the Northern Ohio Youth Orchestra's Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band. Additionally, many students have appeared in regional honor bands hosted by The Ohio State University, Cleveland State University, and Kent State University.
Students who have enrolled in the Oberlin Bands include: OHS valedictorians and salutatorians, members of the football, basketball, soccer, and baseball teams, Eagle Scouts, cheerleaders, and Homecoming Court members. Our graduates go on to become professional actors and musicians, members of the United States Armed Forces, teachers, and so much more.
