Interested in performing in SDS? Come to our trial run! Attending the trial run is not a commitment to performing in SDS and gives you an opportunity to learn some of the choreography before committing! It will consist of a quick warmup barre followed by learning a few short sections of the piece.
Come see BalletO perform a new contemporary-ballet piece at SDS alongside other incredible Oberlin dance groups!
After graduating from Mercyhurst University, Janet Dziak performed professionally with the St. Louis Ballet and other regional companies throughout the midwest. She founded North Pointe Ballet in 2016 with the mission to make classical ballet accessible to the community, and has choreographed multiple full-length ballets and short contemporary works. She is certified in the National Dance Institute's methodology and Dancing Wheels Physically Integrated Dance. She is passionate about dance education at all levels and is thrilled to be back to teach at Oberlin College.
Mary-Elizabeth Fenn received a BFA in dance from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and an MFA in contemporary dance from Case Western Reserve University. From 2011-2018, she was a lead dancer and resident choreographer for Neos Dance Theatre (performing works by Alice Flock, Penny Saunders, Alejandro Cerrudo, Stephanie Martinez, Joseph Morrissey, Robert Wesner and Heinz Poll). As a freelance artist/choreographer, she has performed with Kanye West, Heraldo Negro, and Spinal Tap. In New York City, she performed with Anabella Lenzu/DanceDrama, Amalgamate Dance Company, Yoo & Dancers, Caitlin Dutton, and London artist EddiePeake in Performa 13. She also created a performance group, Fenn & Company, which premiered works at Triskelion Arts Split Bill Series, Comedy in Dance Festival, Triskelion Presents, and Dixon Place NYC10. She has taught Modern Technique, Viewing Dance, and choreographed for Fall Showcase at the University of Akron. Fenn was also a part–time lecturer at Case Western Reserve University teaching ballet and modern technique. When not teaching, she is outside somewhere with her three year old son or hanging out at home with her husband and two dogs. If you want a great cup of coffee, stop by her family owned coffee bus, Odd Dog Coffee, right outside of Cleveland’s MoCa.
